About TCDI

Taimako Community Development Initiative (Taimako-CDI/TAIMAKO-CDI) is a non-profit, non-ethnic, non-political and non-religious organization, whose major objectives is improving rural and urban communities through developmental and self –help driven programmes, initiatives and activities. The organization has functional and equipped Offices in Bauchi, Borno and Yobe States, North-East, Nigeria.

 

Taimako-CDI was established in 2008 and registered with the Bauchi, Borno and Yobe State Ministries of Youth and Social Development under club and association matters. Taimako-CDI was also registered with the Federal Government of Nigeria under the Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C.), Abuja on 23rd May 2014.

 

Taimako leadership and governance structure includes: The Board of Trustees (BoT) which provides the strategic direction and policy related matters, the Board of Directors (BoD) which provide technical  and the Management Team (MT) which manages the day to day smooth operations of the organization.

The organization has 36 full-time staff and 121 active volunteers across the three (3) state offices. The staff are diligent, committed, high skilled, Self-motivated and have the ability to work with people of various socio-cultural backgrounds especially on emergency and disaster responses.

 

Taimako has proven to be an ideal sculptor of a society in Bauchi, Borno and Yobe States working closely with rural and urban communities and has established a niche and good working relationships with all the relevant stakeholders and conforms to national/international standards and best practices.

 

Over the years Taimako CDI has built both technical and professional work relationships with funding partnerships and networks with a number of partners these include among others: Creative Associates International  (CAI), Action Aid Nigeria (AAN),  Nigeria Education Crisis Response (NECR),Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization(GAVI), Catholic Relieve Services (CRS), Victims Support Funds (VSF), ChristoffelBlinden Mission (CBM), North East Regional Initiative (NERI), others include: Gombe State Agency for the Control of Aids (GOMSACA), Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe States Emergency Management Agencies (SEMA), Bauchi, Borno and Yobe State Agency for Community and Social Development Programmes (CSDP), Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe States Agency for Mass Education (SAME).

 

 The Networks involved includes: Association of Civil Society Organizations on Malaria, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN), Bauchi, Borno and Yobe Network of Civil Society Organizations (NeCSO), Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA) and Civil Society on HIV and Aids in Nigeria (CISHAN) and Tuberculosis (TB) Network.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVE

The aims and objectives of the organization shall include;

  1. To support the eradication of illiteracy through interventions at both formal and non-formal levels of education

  2. To promote inter- communal unity and peace building initiatives between and among members of various communities

  3. To complement and support  government at all levels in its community development efforts

  4. To promote the spirit of community self help and development among members

  5. To eradicate poverty through the empowerment of people living with disabilities and the less privilege.

  6. To reduce social vice and restiveness among the youths and women in communities.

  7. To promote agricultural activities, healthy living, hygiene, environmental sanitation and provision of portable drinking water.

  8. To promote environmental protection and combat desertification encroachment in the region.
